Learning to Fish Again

Learning to Fish Again
Monterey, California, was a pelican's paradise. As the fishermen cleaned their fish, they flung the offal to the pelicans. The birds grew fat, lazy, and contented. Later, the offal was utilized, and they weren’t being feed to the pelicans. However, when they no longer received their free meals, the pelicans made no effort to fish for themselves, and grew gaunt and thin and many starved to death. They had forgotten how to fish for themselves... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.

The Refiner's Fire
Refining is simply the process of removing impurities. When applied to silver, gold or other precious metals, the steps involve melting the metal to a liquid or “molten” state then adding chemicals or foreign objects which draw out the impurities in the metal. The refining process also has practical application to life. All of us have flaws and imperfections... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.

The Day of Judgment
During his 1960 presidential campaign, John F. Kennedy often closed his speeches with the story of Colonel Davenport, the Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives. “One day in 1789, the sky of Hartford darkened ominously, and some of the representatives, glancing out the windows, feared the end was at hand. Quelling a clamor for immediate adjournment, Davenport rose and said, “The Day of Judgment is either approaching or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause for adjournment... Limited Good
In more than forty years of working with the Mazatec Indians in Southwestern Mexico, Eunice Pike discovered some interesting things about these beautiful people. For example, the people seldom wish someone well. They are hesitant to teach one another or to share the gospel with each other. If asked, “Who taught you to bake bread?” the village baker answers, “I just know,” meaning he or she has acquired the knowledge without anyone’s help... True Forgiveness

True Forgiveness
Chuck Swindoll reports that a seminary student in Chicago faced a forgiveness test. Although he preferred to work in ministry, the only job he could find was driving a bus on Chicago’s south side. One day a gang of teens got on board and refused to pay the fare. After a few days of this, the seminarian spotted a police officer on the corner, stopped the bus, and reported them. The officer made them pay, but then, he got off... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.

In his state of the Union address in 1986, then President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is not the sole prerogative of a chosen few; it is the universal right of all God’s children. Look to where peace and prosperity flourish today. In the homes that freedom built. Just Like You
There are little eyes upon you, and they are watching night and day; There are little ears that quickly, take in every word you say; There are little hands all eager, to do everything you do, And a little boy who’s dreaming, of the day he’ll be like you. You’re the little fellow’s idol, you’re the wisest of the wise, In his little mind about you, no suspicions ever rise... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.

Greet Him in Glory
From valley to valley out over the hilltops, From sunshine to fog like the darkest of night; So we follow the Lord down life’s winding pathway, And walk much by faith and little by sight. ‘Twould be easy to see were His presence like lightning, And easy to hear if like thunder His voice... Final Note
George MacDonald, in his book, Restoring Your Spiritual Passion, wrote, “One of the famous composers had a rebellious son who used to come in late at night after his father and mother had gone to bed. Before going to his own room, he would go to his father’s piano and slowly, as well as loudly, play a simple scale, all but the final note. Then, leaving the scale uncompleted, he would retire to his room... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.

Firmly Grounded
On April 30, 1976, Evelyn Mooers attached a rappelling rope to a drain pipe grating on the roof of the Mark Twain South County Bank. Mooers, an experienced climber, had once scaled 14,000-foot Mt. Rainier. The rappelling exercise from the bank building would have been routine but for one miscalculation. The drain pipe grating wasn’t anchored. Numerous bank officials and their friends watched as Mooers plummeted to her death... This Moment in Time is brought to you by Springhill-Curry Construction.
